Most people will seek out chiropractic or physical therapy treatments when they have a problem. This problem is usually phrased as “I have pain here” or “It hurts when I do this.” While this is completely normal, pain is NOT the problem but rather a symptom of the problem. What is Plantar fasciitis?
Plantar fasciitis can be a painful condition, but there is a treatment plan for it
What is it?
Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the fibrous band of tissue that spans the length of the foot connecting the heel to the toes. The plantar fascia acts as a shock absorber and supports the medial longitudinal arch of the foot. When excessive stress is applied to the plantar fascia through a specific event or cumulative trauma, an inflammatory responds may develop, causing a very painful condition with weight bearing activities. Chronic inflammation may eventually cause a heel spur that is visible via X-ray.
